Nano Enabling Enclosure (UCLA)
Custom Enclosures for Nanotechology Applications
UCLA’s physics department
needed a controlled environment tailored to the
unique requirements of theSingle Electron Spin
Microscope. iE worked collaboratively onsite with
the research professor to create the design, and subsequently manufactured, and installed the Enclosure around the microscope.
Double-wall panels enable a re-circulating
airflow pathway that, coupled with a thermo-electric
heat exchanger and low-velocity filter fan units,
provides a Class
3 ISO 14644-1 environment with ±0.01ºC temperature control. Thick-wall polycarbonate
construction with vibration dampening bracing
achieves 21dBC of noise
attenuation. In addition,
a frame less modular panel design approach enabled easy
assembly (and planned disassembly) within the
limit space available of the
laboratory.
